1980 Miracle on Ice Collectors

The 1980 Miracle on Ice Collectors faceoff to win fundraising competition for The Ranch!

About the 1980 Miracle on Ice Collectors: We are loud and we are proud as we forever carry the legacy and memory forward as the Facebook site honoring our 1980 Olympic champions. We are going to show that pride as we compete against other so-called pretenders to the fundraising throne on behalf of The Ranch, and ask that you join us in showing everyone who's boss.

About The Ranch: Teammates for Life: The Ranch – Teammates for Life is a nonprofit 501c3 organization aimed at providing a healthy and purposeful life for those former athletes and military combat veterans who have suffered trauma in their lives. This Non-Profit Organization was inspired by hockey teammates who, like so many others, were facing some of life’s biggest challenges.
How did we start? The dreamer who conceived the idea of The Ranch – Teammates for Life – was former New York Ranger’s Captain Barry Beck. Mark Pavelich, a fellow New York Ranger teammate and member of the 1980 Gold Medal Olympic (Miracle on Ice) hockey team was suffering from mental health issues as a result of the brain trauma he sustained over the years. As in their past, Barry protected Pav and rallied for his support. Mark embraced the idea of The Ranch after learning he wasn’t alone in the struggle. Teammates help each other on and off the ice, so not surprisingly, they were then joined by former NHL players, Clint Malarchuk and Tom Gorence, as well as Jean Pavelich Gevik, Mark’s sister. Since then, others have joined in. All are driven by the same passion to help one another.
You Should Know: Before leaving us, Mark asked us to keep it going for his Teammates and for our Veterans, the “real heroes” in his words. For the military who served and fought in battle together there is a saying – leave no man behind. At The Ranch, that rings true as well. It’s all for one and one for all.
What can you do to help us? Your donation to the 1980 Miracle On Ice Collectors boosts our position on the Fund Duel leader board, but more importantly, the funds go to the men and women that operate The Ranch so that we can further the cause of aiding those battling brain disease and injury. Another Miracle on Ice as the Collectors declare a decisive victory in fundraising and video/photo competition.

It's all about sharing the love and the message to help individuals served by The Ranch. No better team exists to flex its fundraising muscles than the 1980 Miracle on Ice Collectors. Join us as we rock this competition. Here is what you do:

  • find a pair of gloves...work gloves, boxing, hockey, snow mittens, kitchen mittens, latex...its doesn't matter.
  • grab your smartphone and record a 30 second video of you dropping your gloves like hockey gladiators ready to go at each other on the ice. Tell everyone it's time to take off the gloves and challenge your friends to join you in the cause! Show your snarl, get nasty, say it with a funny voice, wear a wig, a goalie mask...GET CREATIVE AND HAVE FUN!
  • select the blue "join the challenge" button here on The Facebook Group (1980 Miracle on Ice Collectors) and UPLOAD your video. When you do, you've created your own URL that you can share by copying the link!
  • make sure to DONATE on your video once you've uploaded it.
  • using your new URL link, share with everyone on your social media, email, phone texts
  • challenge five friends personally to visit your link and donate!

Remember:  fun and cool prizes will be randomly awarded for funniest, meanest, most colorful uploads with donations on them, so join in!
